The "I-81 Task Force" is a subcommittee of the AIA CNY Chapter's Urban Design Committee. Efforts are dedicated to broadening the "design program" of the NYS DOT "I-81 Viaduct Project", initiated in August 2013, to include Urban Design and Quality of Life standards of excellence to advance the quality and economic vitality of the city and region. We are working to broaden community knowledge of the issues, promote community representation and input, establish standards of excellence in Urban Design, promote visualizations of possible alternatives, and assist implementation through draft legislation.
